Miles David Edinburgh scheduled to appear in Milton stabbing death case

WILLMAR -- Miles David Edinburgh, 17, was scheduled to make his initial appearance at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kandiyohi County District Court in regards to the recent Willmar stabbing death of Adam Kenneth Milton.

Edinburgh of Willmar is being charged with felony second degree murder in the stabbing death of Milton, 21, of Willmar.

A motion to move the case to adult court has been filed.

Motions to remove Kandiyohi County District Judges Donald Spilseth and Kathryn Smith from the case have been filed. Edinburgh's initial hearing was scheduled to held before Pope County District Judge Jon Stafsholt.

Edinburgh has been being held at Prairie Lakes Youth Programs, where he was taken after he and another 17-year-old were arrested by Willmar Police. Officers found the pair during a search of the area near where Milton was found lying about 12:49 a.m. Sunday on the lawn near an apartment building in the area of 1337 24th Street N.W.

According to police, witnesses said there had been a fight between Milton and the two juveniles.

Milton, who suffered stab wounds to the chest, was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to the police department.

The other 17-year-old has been released, Kandiyohi County Attorney Boyd Beccue said.

Milton played football, as a starting defensive back, for the Ridgewater College Warriors.
