BELGRADE -- Miles Henry Wold, 79, of Belgrade, died Thursday at the Paynesville Area Hospital.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.

Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

He was born Dec. 20, 1925, in New London to Einer and Anna (King) Wold. He grew up in the New London and the Belgrade area and attended the Windy Hill grade school. He entered the U.S. Army on March 28, 1944, and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned home.

He married Donna Otterness in November 1950. They later divorced. He worked as a self-employed truck driver and then worked for New London Gravel as a truck driver for many years. In his later years he was involved in farming.

He married Marcela Peterson on Dec. 20, 1980. They lived in Murdock. Marcella died in 2000.

He was a member of the New London American Legion and the Willmar V.F.W.

He is survived by his children: Donald (and Paulina) Wold of Belgrade, Michael (and Susan) Wold of Willmar, Dennis (and Nancy) Wold of Montevideo, Bruce (and Rhonda) Wold of New London, Steven (and Jolene) Wold of Willmar, Jeffry (and Cindy) Wold of Liberty, Mo., Danny (and Charlotte) Wold of Belgrade, Debra (and Gaylan) Mattila of Willmar; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-granchildren; and siblings: Gennes Wold of Belgrade and Arlene Eckberg of Appleton.

He was preceded in death by second wife; son: Douglas, daughter: Caroline; and three brothers.
