DETROIT LAKES – Charges are expected to be brought against a man in the death of a 3-year-old boy, the Becker County Sheriff said in a statement Thursday.
Sterling Anderson, 23, was arrested in connection with the child's death.
Formal charges against Anderson are pending further review by the Becker County Attorney, said Sheriff Todd Glander.
At about noon Wednesday authorities responded to a residence in nearby Maple Grove Township for a report of a child with a head injury.
The boy, Steven Warren, was taken first to St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes and then to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, where he was pronounced dead.

The results of an autopsy, which came Thursday, showed the cause of Warren’s death was homicidal violence, Sheriff Todd Glander said in the statement.
“Authorities believe there is no additional threat to the public,” Glander’s statement read.
Along with the sheriff’s office, the ongoing investigation involves the White Earth Police Department, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Becker County Attorney’s Office.
The boy’s address was listed as 36787 Co. Hwy. 34.
