The Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Minnesota chapter is asking anyone with information about a burglary at a St. Paul mosque to come forward.
An officer responded to Dawah Mosque (Masjid Dawah) in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood on Saturday, just after 3 p.m., on a report of burglary. A contractor reported it happened between 2:45 and 3:15 a.m. Saturday, according to Steve Linders, a police spokesman.
More than 12 power tools, along with surveillance equipment, keys and HVAC equipment were stolen, Linders said of what the contractor reported. It’s estimated more than $20,000 in equipment was taken, according to CAIR-MN.
Police determined the suspect tried to cut a lock on a gate at the property on Fairview and Thomas avenues before damaging a fence to get in. They broke and entered, and damaged doors, CAIR-MN said.
