EAGLES NEST TOWNSHIP, Minn. - The missing bear cub who attracted a widespread Internet following has been found and reunited with its mother in northeastern Minnesota.

A local cabin owner spotted the wayward cub Wednesday night and called researchers at the nearby North American Bear Center in Ely. Researchers had set up a live "den cam" this past winter so Internet users could follow the pregnancy of Lily, a wild black bear that gave birth to Hope in January. Hundreds of thousands of viewers followed the birth.

Hope disappeared last Friday and researchers were concerned the cub would not survive without its mother.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that after the cub was found, researchers tracked down its mother, who has a GPS collar. But, they weren't certain she would take the cub back. But, as soon as the two were reunited, Hope began to nurse.
