WILLMAR –- The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol advise drivers to slow down in west central Minnesota. Wind and light snow are creating slippery spots.

This afternoon State Patrol has received reports of vehicles in the ditch along state Highway 7 between Montevideo and Cosmos.

Driving conditions are generally listed as hazardous in Stearns County and difficult in Lac qui Parle, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, and McLeod counties. MnDOT crews are out working to improve road conditions.

Motorists should remember to:

·         Drive slowly on bridges, overpasses and tunnels.
·         Use a safe speed for winter driving conditions, regardless of the posted speed limit.
·         Keep a safe stopping distance from the vehicle in front of you.
·         Keep both hands on the steering wheel, eyes on the road and attention on your driving.
