WILLMAR -- A 16-year-old Montevideo girl pleaded guilty Tuesday to an amended gross misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property for stealing a van in October in Montevideo and driving it to Willmar.
As part of a plea agreement reached on the juvenile charges in Kandiyohi County District Court, another felony charge against Brianna Marie Roggenbuck will be dismissed. The case will be transferred to Chippewa County for disposition.
The charges were filed after Willmar police officers received a report on Oct. 8 of the theft of a green Chrysler van stolen in Chippewa County. Around 3:20 p.m., an officer spotted the vehicle with two occupants heading eastbound on Highway 12 and pulled it over on First Street in Willmar near the highway.
Officers then discovered the driver -- a 15-year-old girl -- had been reported a missing person from Montevideo. Roggenbuck, who was the vehicle's passenger, declined to speak with officers, but the other girl said they had taken the van from the Fine Arts Center parking lot in Montevideo. She said the van had the keys in it and that both girls had driven the vehicle.
The girl also said they had run away from home around 7 p.m. Monday and had taken clothing, personal items and purses with them.
