MONTEVIDEO - A Montevideo man was arrested earlier this month for drinking at a bar while he allegedly left a young child sleeping inside a running vehicle, according to police.
Christopher Robert Jasperson, 27, remained in custody at Yellow Medicine County Jail as of Tuesday evening. He faces a charge of child endangerment resulting from the incident, Montevideo Police Chief Adam Christopher said.
The incident was reported the night of Feb. 14 at a bar along South First Street in Montevideo.
Officers allegedly arrived to find a 2-year-old child asleep inside a running vehicle outside of the bar and found Jasperson drinking inside, Christopher said.
Jasperson was arrested just after midnight and taken to jail, where an intoxilyzer test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.23, which is almost three times the legal limit in Minnesota.
The child was released to a relative and the incident remains under investigation, Christopher said.
