A 49-year-old Montevideo man was arrested by Montevideo police officers after he allegedly stabbed a man in the leg Tuesday east of Montevideo.
Myron Lloyd Wellnitz was arrested without incident around 2:30p.m. near American Surplus and Ice Castle Fish Houses along Minnesota Highway 7 and booked into the Chippewa County Jail. Formal charges are pending, according to a news release from the Montevideo Police Department.
It is alleged that Wellnitz confronted the victim, a 21-year-old man, at his vehicle. Wellnitz then stabbed the victim in the leg and backed his pickup into the victim’s vehicle during the confrontation, according to the news release.

It is alleged that the victim has had a previous relationship with Wellnit’z daughter. Both Wellnitz and the victim are employees of Ice Castle Fish Houses.
The victim was transported to Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital by a co-worker, treated and released.
Wellnitz allegedly admitted to the incident during an interview with law enforcement, according to the news release.
