Montevideo man charged in 2013 murder case

MONTEVIDEO -- A 21-year old Montevideo man has been charged in the murder of Thomas Dickson, who was found dead in his Montevideo apartment in December of 2013.

MONTEVIDEO -- A 21-year old Montevideo man has been charged in the murder of Thomas Dickson, who was found dead in his Montevideo apartment in December of 2013.

According to the Montevideo Police Department, Harley Hatch has been charged with second degree manslaughter for allegedly strangling Dickson during a sex act.

In a press release issued this morning, Montevideo Police Chief Adam Christopher said Dickson, 64, was found dead in his bed on Dec. 13, 2013, with strangulation marks noted on his neck.

The cause of death was determined by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office as a homicide by strangulation.

On Jan. 10 of this year, the Montevideo Police Department interviewed Hatch, who admitted to strangling Dickson during a sex act.

Hatch is currently in custody in the Yellow Medicine County Jail on charges from another incident.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted the Montevideo Police Department staff with evidence processing, investigation and interviews.
