MARSHALL -- Montevideo went 7-for-7 at the free-throw line in the game's final minute to edge Marshall 59-52 in a non-conference boys basketball game Tuesday.
It was the season opener for both teams.
Montevideo was ranked No. 2 in Class AA by Minnesota Basketball News. Marshall was ranked No. 12 in Class AAA.
The Thunder Hawks (1-0), who have all five starters back from a 21-4 team a year ago, led 52-51 before they sealed the win at the charity stripe.
Marshall (0-1) owned a 26-21 lead at halftime and the two teams combined to pull down 86 rebounds after going 34-for-114 from the field.

Tyler Grey had 18 points and Tyler Ray followed with 12 to spark Montevideo. Nolan Jaspersen grabbed 10 rebounds. Montevideo made only 1-of-13 shots from three-point range. The Thunder Hawks were one of the area's top teams in shooting beyond the arc a season ago.
Marshall was led by Beau Bredeson with 19 points, three assists and four steals. Tyler Gimmestad had 17 points and Taylor Hedman 11.
Montevideo and Marshall did not play last season.
