Two drivers escaped serious injuries Saturday after one lost control of her SUV on an ice-coated bridge deck over the Minnesota River south of Montevideo and they collided.

Katie J. Mortenson, 34, of Granite Falls, was crossing the bridge on U.S. Highway 212 shortly before 4:30 p.m. when she lost control of her 2002 GMC Envoy, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. She collided with a 2001 Dodge Caravan driven by Lynn M. Clarke, 33, of Granite Falls. She was proceeding south on the highway at the time.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Fights

WILLMAR -- Police are investigating a report that five or more men had ganged up and assaulted a man Saturday near the Willmar Junior High School at 2:30 p.m.

Two male Kandiyohi County jail inmates, ages 30 and 27, were involved in a fight in the jail sometime before 12:52 p.m. on Saturday.

Law officers responded to a report of a fight described as a mutual combat between two men, ages 26 and 32, at the Kandi Entertainment Center at 12:22 a.m. on Saturday.

Tires slashed, graffiti found

WILLMAR -- Police are investigating reports of tires being slashed and gang graffiti being found in a garage following reports of the vandalism in a two block area on Friday morning.

Tires were reported slashed on three vehicles owned by different residents on the 400 blocks of Southwest Highland Road and the 400 block of Southwest 14th Street.

Also, another resident on the 400 block of Southwest Highland Road reported finding gang graffiti on the inside of his garage, but no items were reported stolen or damaged in it.
