Multiple injuries in three-vehicle crash Wednesday near New London

Jason Dean Bengtson, 33, of New London, and his two passengers, a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old, were transported to Carris Health — Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar for non-life-threatening injuries suffered in a crash Wednesday in New London Township. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured in the crash.

NEW LONDON — A three-vehicle crash sent three people, including two young children, to the hospital Wednesday morning , according to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office .

According to the release, Jason Dean Bengtson, 33, of New London, was stopped in a 2010 Honda SUV for a school bus stop on the 3300 block of County Road 40 Northeast, east of U.S. Highway 71 near New London.

A 2020 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Jeremy David Peterson, 32, of New London, failed to stop and rear-ended Bengtson's vehicle, causing it to strike the rear of another vehicle stopped for the school bus, a 2012 Ford pickup driven by Dakota Miles Tanner, 27, of New London.

Bengtson and his two passengers, a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old, were transported to Carris Health — Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar for non-life-threatening injuries.

Tanner and Peterson were not injured in the crash, and the school bus was not involved.

The crash is under investigation.

New London Ambulance, New London Fire Department, CentraCare Ambulance, Lakes Area Rural Responders, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad and the Minnesota State Patrol also responded to the incident reported at 7:31 a.m. Wednesday in New London Township.
