WILLMAR -- Craig Allan Hargreaves, 38, of New London, made his first appearance Friday in Kandiyohi County District Court on two additional criminal sexual conduct cases, including the assault of a 12- to 13-year-old boy in the late 1980s and the assault of an 18-year-old man while he was mentally impaired in February and March of this year.
Hargreaves' defense attorney, John Mack, entered a not guilty plea to the charges in all three cases and demanded a speedy trial in each case.
Unconditional bail was set separately for each court file by District Judge Da-vid L. Mennis.
Unconditional bail of $250,000 or $25,000 cash, with conditional bail of $100,000 or $10,000 cash, was set in the case with the 20-year-old charges. Those charges include six first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges.
Unconditional bail was set at $150,000 or $15,000 cash, with conditional bail at $75,000 or $7,500 cash in the other case.

That case includes five felony charges, plus two gross misdemeanors for providing liquor and marijuana to a minor. The felonies include four third-degree criminal sexual conduct charges and a fifth-degree controlled substance crime.
Mennis also modified the release conditions on another criminal sexual conduct case against Hargreaves, which alleges that he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy in 2007. The judge ordered that Hargreaves have no contact with the victim and no contact, other than face-to-face contact, with anyone under the age of 18 without an adult, at least 25 years old, present.
According to the complaint on the 1988 and 1989 charges, a Kandiyohi County detective met with a 33-year-old man on April 22 regarding the man being sexually abused as a child by Hargreaves. The man said that the abuse started when he was 6 or 7 years old, and Hargreaves was 12 or 13, while living in the Twin Cities. The abuse allegedly continued when the family moved to New London, and until 1989, and included multiple sex acts. The man said that several other boys and girls, now adults, had also been sexually touched and forced to perform sex acts on Hargreaves.
Mack contended that the charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement, involving other burglary charges, reached long ago would be dismissed. He added that they would be "blown away" by the statute of limitations, the time limit on bringing criminal charges against someone.
According to the other complaint, the detective also interviewed a 19-year-old man on April 22 as part of an ongoing investigation into Hargreaves. The man said he hung out at Hargreaves' home, drank hard liquor and smoked marijuana there. The man said that Hargreaves performed oral and anal sex on him while he was drunk or high and that he did not consent to the sexual contact.
