WILLMAR -- Dino John Bastian, 37, of New Ulm, was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years of probation and a $1,500 fine on a felony charge of criminal sexual conduct for molesting a then 8-year-old girl.
As part of a plea agreement reached in Kandiyohi County District Court, an additional charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed.
Judge Michael J. Thompson ordered Bastian re-ceive a 25-year imposition on his sentence. If he complies with the court's conditions, the conviction will be reduced to a misdemeanor after 25 years.
Bastian was also ordered to serve 270 days in jail, with 101 days credit for time served. That sentence begins July 1, 2009. He must also complete a psychosexual evaluation, register as a predatory offender and have no contact with the victim or their family.
Restitution in the case was reserved for 30 days.

The charges against Bastian were filed after the girl's mother reported to Willmar police in June 2006 that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by Bastian at Robbins Island.
Bastian took the girl and her then 6-year-old brother to the beach at the island on May 29.
He was a family friend, and their mother had given him permission to accompany the children.
The boy later told his mother's boyfriend that Bastian had touched his sister inappropriately.
The girl would not comment, and her mother thought the boy might have misinterpreted what he saw. However, the girl began having nightmares and eventually informed her mother of the incident.
The girl told her mother and police officers that Bastian restrained her in his SUV, removed her swimsuit and molested her. She said Bastian threatened to kill her mother.
The boy said Bastian threatened him, too. The mother told police that Bastian had been using a different vehicle to drive around and look for her children.
