ALEXANDRIA -- Dr. Richard A. Levins, a professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota, will be the featured speaker at the Minnesota National Farmers Organization's annual state convention Dec. 10 at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria.
Levins recently published a book called, "Market Power for Farmers," that details the collective bargaining process for farmers and the marketing power that is available to farmers when they sell their production as a group. NFO emphasizes the importance of collective bargaining to attain higher commodity prices. The organization has two new collective bargaining programs for farmers to sell antibiotic-free hogs and organic grains that are marketed through NFO to a special group of consumers.
The convention begins at 9 a.m. Levins will speak at 6 p.m. during the convention banquet.
