DARWIN -- Nicholas Christ "Nick" Theisen, 80, of Darwin died Friday at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 6, at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and for one hour prior to the service at church.

He was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Watkins to Christ and Elizabeth (Kinzer) Theisen. He attended Litchfield High School. He served in the U.S.s Navy, on a troop transport ship during World War II. He worked as a banker in Litchfield, and then moved to Rapid City, S.D.

He married Helaine Kielty. He later moved to Hot Springs, S.D., where he continued banking. He also farmed and was a rancher. Later he returned to central Minnesota.

He was a member of the Church of St. Philip and the Knights of Columbus. He served in 4-H in Hot Springs.

He is survived by his children: John (and Shelli) Theisen of Winter Park, Fla., Peggy (and Roger) Exum of Clinton, Tenn., Colleen (and Craig) Fuhs of Burnsville, Mary (and Thomas) Tschetter of Charlotte, N.C., Terese (and Dan) Leuschen of Windsor, Colo., Maureen (and Wendell) Niewenhuis of Aberdeen, S.D. and Chris (and Bern) Theisen of Bend, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sister: Mary O'Keefe.

He was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
