New London-Spicer was preparing for a road game Saturday for the Section 6AAA semifinals when it was informed that it will instead be hosting Staples-Motley at 7 p.m.

Staples-Motley, the No. 2 seed which beat NLS 16-8 on Oct. 13, discovered it had an ineligible player during the Cardinals' season-finale 64-28 win over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. The Cardinals were forced to forfeit that West Central North Conference game and also moved them from the No. 2 seed in Section 6AAA to No. 3 and NLS moved up to the No. 2 seed.

The forfeit also cost Staples-Motley a share of the conference title and gave NLS its first North title outright.
