All employees have been accounted for and no injuries were reported after an explosion at the Clarkfield Grain Elevator around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Yellow Medicine County Sheriff Bill Flaten said the Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting the explosion and fire, according to a Wednesday news release. The cause is unknown at this point and still under investigation.
The Clarkfield Fire Department inspected the elevator and determined that it was safe for elevator staff to return to assess the damage from the explosion.
The elevator is owned by Prairie Grain Partners LLC in Clarkfield.
Clarkfield Ambulance, Granite Falls Ambulance, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office, Granite Falls Police Department, Canby Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol also assisted on the scene.
