No wake advisory issued in Kandiyohi, Meeker counties

WILLMAR - The sheriffs in Kandiyohi and Meeker counties have issued no wake advisories for all lakes in their counties until the high water recedes.
The advisory also puts the Little Crow Ski Team on dry land. The team will not be allowed to ski until the advisory is lifted, according to Sheriff Dan Hartog.
That means there will be no ski show on Saturday during the Willmar Fests celebration, but other events in the 2014 Beach Party will still continue at Robbins Island, according to event organizers. The free concert with TASZ will be at 8 p.m. and the Works Over Water fireworks show will follow at 10 p.m.
The ski team will also not have shows or practice on the Crow River at Neer Park, according to New London city clerk Trudie Guptill.
Kandiyohi County’s advisory was issued Wednesday by Hartog, who is advising boaters to not create wakes with any type of watercraft, including boats, pontoons and personal watercraft in an effort to prevent further erosion of shorelines.
Boaters are asked to reduce speeds and the Sheriff’s Office will have deputies patroling the lakes to remind boaters of the advisory.
The Stearns County Sheriff issued a similar advisory Tuesday for Lake Koronis, adding the Paynesville-area lake to the no wake list of lakes in that county.
Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin also issued an advisory on Wednesday for the portion of Lake Koronis that is Meeker County, along with all navigational waters in the county. The advisory calls for the operation of watercraft at the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage and not greater than 5 mph.
