Novotny, RCW run past BLH

DANUBE -- Trent Novotny rushed for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass to help Renville County West beat Buffalo Lake-Hector 26-12 in a Southern Minnesota Conference football game Friday.

Novotny led the Jaguars (2-0, 2-0) with 149 yards on 16 carries, including a 56-yard run in the first quarter. He also gave the Jaguars a 13-6 lead before halftime with a 25-yard halfback pass to Tyler Bakker.

The Mustangs (1-1, 1-1) got within one point in the third quarter on an Evan Ludowese one-yard run, but Renville County West scored the last two touchdowns.

The first RCW score was Steve Gens' second TD reception from Brian Harper, a 51-yard connection, and the second was Novotny's six-yard run.

Joe Nutter, who scored the game's first TD on an eight-yard run, led BLH with 160 yards rushing on 28 carries.
