WILLMAR -- Charles Oakes today withdrew his candidacy in the Willmar City Council Ward 4 special election slated for Nov. 10.
Oakes filed an affidavit of withdrawal today at the City Clerk’s Office.
Oakes had been one of three candidates to file for the vacant Ward 4 seat. Others who filed were Tom Butterfield and Shawn Mueske.
“After visiting with Shawn Mueske and my family, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy for the Fourth Ward City Council position,’’ Oakes said. “I am confident that Mr. Mueske is experienced, well qualified, and if he is elected, he will do a wonderful job representing Ward 4. I encourage my supporters to vote for Shawn in the election on Nov.10, 2015.’’
