Archie E. Walls

DARWIN -- Archie Edward Walls, 80, of Darwin died Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will be in the Ripley Cemetery with military honors by Admiral Benson V.F.W. Post No. 2818.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield.

He was born on Dec. 11, 1924, in Litchfield to George and Amanda (Knutson) Walls. He attended school in Darwin. He was drafted into the Army on May 24, 1944, where he served in the European Theatre. In the Battle of the Bulge, he was wounded in the leg and received the Purple Heart. He returned to Darwin and the family farm.
On Oct. 30, 1948, he married Evelyn Yager. He was the rural mail carrier out of the Darwin Post Office from 1967 to 1982. In 1982 he was appointed Postmaster until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the finance committee. He was on the Darwin School Board for nine years, on Darwin Creamery Board, a founding member of the Darwin Rod and Gun Club and a lifelong member of the Admiral Benson V.F.W. Post in Litchfield.
He farmed more than 50 years and recently sold the farm and moved to Hutchinson.
He is survived by his wife; children: Linda (and Robert) Roske of Hutchinson, and Roger (and Karlene) Walls of Moorhead; four grandsons; one great-grandson and siblings: Florence (and Vern) Braness of Dassel and Arnold (and Shirley) Walls of Akley.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a brother-in-law.
Gordon R. Dean
March 29, 1928 - Dec. 7, 2005

DULUTH -- Gordon Robert Dean, 77, of Duluth, formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday at his home.
The service will be at 1 p.m. today at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 2nd St. E., Duluth. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
He was born on March 29, 1928, in Willmar to Fred and Florence (Buche) Dean. He was a Duluth resident since 1959.
He married Edna Sonstegard on March 29, 1954. He was employed as a sign painter with Nordland Signs until retiring in 1980.
He is survived by his wife; children: Jeffrey Dean, Lisa (and Pete) Trea, Jaclyn (and Scott) Nelson, all of Duluth, and Susan (and Kevin) Foucault of Mt. Iron; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother: Elden Dean of Florida.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Alma White

MARSHALL -- Alma White, 87, of Marshall died Friday at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Marshall. Burial will be at the Marshall Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Rehkamp-Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. It will continue one hour prior to the service at church.
Survivors include daughter: Vicky (and Freddie) Mattson of Willmar, and a granddaughter of Willmar.
Memorials are preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
Lois R. Jahn

MONTEVIDEO -- Lois Rose Jahn, 79, of Montevideo, died Saturday at Rosewood Assisted Living Home in Montevideo.
The service will at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Montevideo. A private family burial will be held next spring.
Visitation will be one hour before the service. Arrangements are with Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo.
She was born on May 12, 1926, to LeRoy and Ida (Bistodeau) Jahn. She attended the Montevideo Public Schools and graduated from high school in 1944. She attended the St. Joseph Presentation School of Nursing in Mitchell, S.D. She received her diploma as a registered nurse and following graduation went to California where she began her 31-year career in nursing at Franklin Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. She finished her career at Franklin Memorial as the director of nursing. In her retirement she enjoyed working at the Village Frame Shop in San Rafael, Calif.
She returned to Minnesota in 2003, where she was a resident of Rosewood Assisted Living Home.
She is survived by a brother: Vernon "Beany" (and Audrey) Jahn of Montevideo.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
William J. 'Billy' Kleberg

MINNETONKA -- William J. "Billy" Kleberg, 70, of Minnetonka, formerly of Willmar, died Friday.
A private family service is planned. Arrangements are with Cremation Society of Minnesota.
He was born on July 12, 1935, in Willmar to Melville and Alice (Swenson) Kleberg. He graduated from Willmar High School and later received his bachelor's degree from San Diego State College.
He is survived by his wife: Darlene; sons: W. Scott and J. Owen; three grandchildren and a brother: Dick Kleberg.
Anna M. McDowell

BIRD ISLAND -- Anna Marie McDowell, 88, of Bird Island died Saturday at Rosewood Assisted Living Home in Olivia.

The service is at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the cemetery at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island. Visitation is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island.
She was born on Sept. 6, 1917, in Brooten to Michael and Mary (Majerus) Goelz. Her family moved to Franklin, where she grew up and attended St. Patrick's country school.
She married Fred McDowell on Nov. 14, 1936. They lived on farms north of Olivia and then southeast of Hector, before settling in Bird Island. She was a homemaker and also cleaned homes and did sewing and baby-sitting for other families.
She is survived by her children: Fred Jr. (and Rose) McDowell of Plymouth, Donald (and Brenda) McDowell of Bird Island, Jerome (and Pam) McDowell of Bird Island and Mary Ann (and Brian) Erickson of Brooklyn Center; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings: Josephine Pflanz of Illinois and Michael Goelz of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983; two sons: Merland and Michael, and two sisters.
Donald K. McBroom
June 4, 1930 - Dec. 9, 2005
WILLMAR -- Donald K. McBroom, 75, of Willmar, died Friday at his home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. American Legion Post No. 167 will provide military honors at the church. A private family burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred.
He was born on June 4, 1930, in Chatfield to Guy and Vivian (Shoop) McBroom. He grew up and attended school in Chatfield. He served in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953.
On Sept. 17, 1954, he married Maureen Peterson. They lived in Rochester, Byron and Blomkest before moving to Willmar in the late 1970s. He owned and operated Don's Repair Shop, and from 1970 to 1992, he worked for the Willmar Waste Water Treatment Plant. After retiring, he spent several years working for Roth Chevrolet.
He is survived by his wife; children: Linda Leaks of Willmar, Dona Joslin of Mineapolis, Barbara (and Mark) Norbie of Willmar; five grandsons; two great-granddaughters; brother: Burt McBroom of New London, and sister-in-law: Delores McBroom of Chatfield.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Phyllis E. Waldron
March 7, 1925 - Dec. 10, 2005
LITCHFIELD -- Phyllis Elaine Waldron, 80, of Litchfield died Saturday at the Emmanuel Home in Litchfield.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Chaska.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home in Litchfield and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born on March 7, 1925, in Big Lake to Alvin "Dutch" and Vivian (Kussman) Maas. She graduated from Big Lake High School in 1943. She moved to Minneapolis and worked for Honeywell.
On Feb. 24, 1946, she married Mervin Waldron. They lived in various areas of the Twins Cities. From 1964 to 1977 they lived in Chaska, where she was active in St. John's Lutheran Church and was president of the VFW Auxiliary. She also was a den mother and assisted with Girl Scouts.
They moved to Litchfield in 1977, and she worked at the DAC and elementary school.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Litchfield where she was in the choir and taught Sunday school.
She is survived by her children: Paul (and Barb) Waldron of Waconia, Peggy Bakken of Hopkins, Philip (and Leetha) Waldron of Darwin, Priscilla (and Bruce) Lee of Litchfield, Patricia Waldron of Willmar and Phaen (and Lori) Waldron of St. Cloud; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Perry, and daughter: Pamela Grewin.
