MARINA DEL REY, CALIF. -- Phyllis Lucille Gates, 80, formerly of Montevideo, died Wednesday in Marina Del Rey, Calif.

The service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.

Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was born on Dec. 7, 1925, in Dawson to Leo and Mabel (Johnson) Gates.

She graduated from Clarkfield High School.

She worked at Dayton's in Minneapolis and as an airline stewardess before moving to California and becoming a secretary for Hollywood agent Henry Wilson.

In 1955 she married Rock Hudson.

The marriage lasted three years.

She spent a number of years as an interior decorator before retiring. She loved to travel, studied painting in Paris and was an accomplished artist, and wrote a book "My Husband, Rock Hudson."

She is survived by a sister: Marvis Ketelsen of Montevideo; a brother: Russell (and Mavis) Gates of Albert Lea; a sister-in-law: Marguerite Gates of Fairbault; eight nieces and nephews; several grand nieces and nephews; three aunts; an uncle; and a number of cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.

Evelyn E. Kibble

June 28, 1918 - Jan. 6, 2006

MONTEVIDEO --Evelyn Elizabeth Kibble, 87, of Montevideo, died Friday at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church in Montevideo.

Interment will be at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton, SD.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

She was born June 28, 1918, in Yankton, S.D., to James and Clara (Engle) Branaugh. She grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School.

She married Vernon Kibble on Aug. 7, 1937, in Yankton.

They moved to the country where they farmed. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Yankton.

They retired and moved to Montevideo in 1982. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Montevideo, a homemakers club, a flower and garden club and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by four sons: James Kibble of Logansport, Ind; Ron (and Fran) Kibble of Mankato; Bill (and Jenny) Kibble of Montevideo; and Roger Kibble of Wakonda, S.D.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister and a brother.

Esther O. Richardson

July 7, 1917 - Jan. 2, 2006

MINNEAPOLIS-- Esther O. Richardson, 88, of Walker Methodist Health Care, formerly of South Minneapolis, died Monday.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 39th and Chicago Avenue South, Minneapolis. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

She was born July 7, 1917, in Crosby, N.D., to Edwin and Sofie (Vikse) Okland.

She is survived by sons: Gerald and David; daughter: Paula; daughter-in-law: Helen; five grandchildren; a greatgrandchild; four sisters: Martha Evenson of Willmar; Alma (and Roladn) Gaulin of Biddeford, Mass.; Marion (and Hank) Rasmussen of Grove City; and Borghild (and Gordon) Neset of San Francisco, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband.
