Oliver N. Pettengill

LAVA HOT SPRINGS, Idaho -- Oliver Namiki Pettengill, 58, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday at his home after a battle with cancer.
The service will be at 4:30 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home in Pocatello, Idaho.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

He was born April 4, 1948, in Otako, Tokyo, Japan, to Edward W. Pettengill and Masako Namiki. He lived there for seven years. He graduated from Alhambra High School in Phoenix, Ariz. He attended Idaho State University and studied medicine.
He married Joni Pein and they later divorced. He married Deborah L. Warner on June 23, 2003, in Pocatello. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces and served in Vietnam. He received numerous awards and decorations. He retired from the military in 1997. He moved to Willmar in 1996 and worked at S&W Recycling and Southwest Emergency Services. He moved to Idaho in 2003.
He is survived by his wife; daughter: Melanie A. Collins of Battleground, Wash.; stepchildren: Andrew Hammer of South Carolina, Annette Mohs of Paynesville; his parents; and five siblings: Claude Pettengill of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Edward Pettengill Jr. of Hailey, Idaho, Ray Pettengill of Meridian, Idaho, Leslie Pettengill of Kirkland, Wash., and Jasmine Manion of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
