OLIVIA - A 19-month-old child is in critical condition this morning and a suspect is in custody at the Renville County Jail in connection with the incident.
Law enforcement officers received a 911 call around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday that a 19-month-old child was unresponsive.
The child was transported by ambulance to the Renville County Hospital where it was determined the child had suffered "significant injuries," according to a news release from the Olivia Police Department.
The child was later flown to St. Paul Children's Hospital and is in critical condition today.
A suspect was taken into custody. The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending formal charges by the Renville County Attorney's office.
