OLIVIA -- William Thomas Lewis Sr., 48, of Olivia, was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in prison, which was stayed, five years of probation, 180 days in jail and a $700 fine on a third-degree assault charge for a July 1 stabbing incident in Olivia.
Lewis was also sentenced to 90 days in jail on a misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charge for a July 25 incident that caused a woman to lose one of her front teeth.
As part of a previous plea agreement, the charges were reduced from second- and third-degree assault. Restitution was reserved in both cases.
Lewis was also ordered to complete an alcohol treatment program and attend Alcoholics Anonymous.
The first of the two charges was filed after July 1, when an Olivia police officer, assisted by a Bird Island officer, was dispatched to Henton Avenue and arrived to find Lewis wearing a blood-covered T-shirt.

He presented the officers with a knife that he said was used in the stabbing.
One of the officers located the 19-year-old man who had been stabbed by Lewis and, with assistance from another person, administered first aid until ambulance crew members arrived. The man had multiple lacerations to his lower abdomen and arm and was barely coherent. He was taken to Renville County Hospital in Olivia and then transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for emergency surgery on his abdominal wounds.
The second charge was filed after police in Olivia had received a report that Lewis hit a woman twice in the face with his fists. One of the blows knocked out the woman's tooth and caused her to have a swollen lip.
