MONTEVIDEO -- Omer Joseph Nokleby, 98, of Montevideo died Tuesday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, and with the family from 5 to 7 p.m.

He was born Dec. 11, 1907, in Mandt Township, Chippewa County, to Oscar and Emma (Skogrand) Nokleby. He attended rural schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1926.

He married Helga Hanson on Aug. 26, 1934, in Montevideo. They lived on a farm in Camp Release Township for 67 years. They moved to Brookside Manor in 2000. He moved to Luther Haven Nursing Home in 2002.

He was active in his church and the Chippewa County Historical Society.

He is survived by his son: Bruce (and Pat) Nokleby of Plymouth; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Vernal (and Rosemary) Nokleby and Arnold (and Ilene) Nokleby, all of Montevideo.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; an infant son: Robert; and three brothers.
