OLIVIA -- One driver was dead at the scene and another person was flown from a two-vehicle crash that happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday on the Renville-Meeker Line Road, approximately one mile west of Renville County Road 24 in Boon Lake Township.
According to a news release from Renville County Sheriff Scott Hable, the names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family.
The head-on collision involved 1998 Ford Escort that was traveling eastbound and a 1994 Ford Econoline van that was traveling westbound. The driver of the Ford Escort was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Ford van was flown from the scene to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. The van driver's condition is unknown at this time, according to Hable's news release.
Responding agencies that assisted at the scene included the Renville, Meeker and McLeod county sheriff's offices, Cosmos and Buffalo Lake police departments, Minnesota State Patrol, Cosmos and Hutchinson Ambulance Services, Cosmos and Hutchinson Fire Departments and Life Link III helicopter.
The Renville County Sheriff's Office, along with the Minnesota State Patrol, is investigating the crash.
