MONTEVIDEO -- One person is dead as a result of a stabbing incident that happened Tuesday in Montevideo.
The 44-year-old victim and the 54-year-old suspect in the case are both from Montevideo, according to a press release posted on the Montevideo Police Department's Facebook page.
The name of the victim will be released after relatives have been notified.
Because this is "still a very active investigation," Police Chief Adam Christopher said the name of the suspect who was arrested will be released at a later time.
The police report does not indicate at what time the incident took place yesterday, but it says officers responded to a report of an altercation Tuesday in the 700 block of Sherman Avenue. When officers arrived they learned that an individual had been transported to by a private vehicle to the Montevideo Hospital with knife injuries.

An officer at the scene located a suspect and placed him under arrest, according to the press release.
The victim died the hospital.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions been contacted and is assisting in the investigation.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
