WILLMAR -- A 29-year-old New London man was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Business U.S Highway 71 Northeast and County Road 24.
Owen R. Stands was taken to Rice by Willmar Ambulance after the vehicle he was driving north along Highway 71 collided with another vehicle. The second vehicle, driven by James T. Hilden, 44, of Montevideo, was traveling east attempting to cross Highway 71. According to a report filed with the Willmar Police Department, the crash happened around 9:56 a.m.
Strands was treated and released from the hospital. Hilden along with a 3- and 10-year-old traveling with Strands were treated for minor injuries at the scene, according to the report. The names of the 3- and 10-year-old were not provided in the initial report.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Willmar Fire Department and Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene.
