ALEXANDRIA -- Orville Merlyn Feigum, 76, of Alexandria, formerly of rural Glenwood, died Tuesday.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barsness Lutheran Church in rural Glenwood. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 187 and VFW Post 3815.

Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.

He was born May 27, 1930, in Crosby, N.D., to Oliver and Mabel (Sando) Feigum. The family moved to the Hancock area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, from February 1952 to November 1953. He served as a heavy equipment operator in Korea and as a heavy equipment instructor in Colorado, then received an honorable discharge. He returned to the Glenwood area and began to farm in 1954.

He married Mardith Bestland on June 12, 1954, at Glenwood Lutheran Church. They farmed south of Glenwood for 37 years. They moved to Alexandria in 1991. He drove bus for the Glenwood School District and later for District 206 in Alexandria.

He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a member of the Barsness Lutheran Church and served on various church boards. He also volunteered on various community boards.

He is survived by his wife; and his siblings: Joseph (and June) Feigum of Fergus Falls, Dorothy (and Darwin) Schmoyer, of Golden Valley, and Sylvia Davids of Glenwood.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
