STARBUCK -- P. Arnold Naig, 93, of Starbuck died Sunday at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at West Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hancock. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck.

He was born March 25, 1914, in Paulina, Iowa, to Peter and Anna (Hanson) Naig. They moved to Holstein, Iowa, then to Pope County. He attended country school through the eighth grade. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1931 to 1933, in Hoveland.

He married Hazel Hendrickson on Sept. 17, 1939. They farmed in Langhei Township. They moved to Starbuck in 1975.

He was a member of West Zion Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He was a member of Happy Hoofers Saddle Club, Farmers Union, National Farmers Organization. He was a 4-H leader for the Langhei Aces 4-H club. He also did woodworking for TJ Vintage in Starbuck.

He is survived by his wife; three sons: Keith (and Carol) Naig of Clontarf, Charles (and Nancy) Naig of Elk River and Jim (and Carol) Naig of Starbuck; one daughter: Linda (and Kent) Trask of Kansas City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son: David; and five siblings.
