Rain cascaded upon much of West Central Minnesota Thursday night with flash flood warnings accompanying it in southern Stearns County and Northern Kandiyohi County.
Belgrade’s rainfall exceed five inches in select locations according to the town’s Public Works Director Darren Braegelman. Braegelman said that the rain caused minimal damage.
“We’ve got some fields and yards and stuff that are flooded,” Braegelman said.
“Our drainage ditches were backed up, but they’re kind of going down now,” he said Friday around noon.
He said this magnitude of rain is certainly rare and he was surprised he hasn’t received more calls from people with drainage issues.
“There (are) fields that have standing water that people who have been around for many years have never seen,” Braegelman said.
