ST. PAUL (AP) - Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is ordering that all U.S. and state flags be flown at half-staff on Memorial Day to honor troops who have died while serving our country.
Pawlenty's order says all flags on state property will be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until noon on Monday.
He says that by giving their lives for freedom, the military heroes have defended and inspired all Americans. Pawlenty adds that Memorial Day is about honoring fallen soldiers and their legacy of patriotism and sacrifice.
The governor's order also says he prays for peace and for the safety of troops still working to protect our nation's security.
