AVON -- A 22-year-old Paynesville man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash early Saturday.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says Joshua Paul Schmitt was transported to St. Cloud Hospital after the crash, which happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Schmitt had been traveling west on Norway Road in Avon Township, near the 16070 block, when he missed a curve and drove straight off the road.

He fell off of the motorcycle and struck a road sign.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
