ALEXANDRIA - A 19-year-old Perham man was arrested Tuesday after making threats against law enforcement officials in Alexandria.

The Alexandria Police Department received a call from a concerned person that Nathaniel James Boykin had threatened to shoot at police and ram his vehicle into police cars in hopes of being shot himself, according to authorities.

Police searched multiple residences during a three-hour search and found Boykin, who is attending college in Alexandria, at an apartment on Nokomis Street with acquaintances.

He was taken into custody by the Alexandria Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, SWAT team and the Minnesota State Patrol.

As of this morning, he remained in custody at the Douglas County Jail, pending charges of terroristic threats.

No one was injured in the incident.

Several precautions were taken while the suspect was at large, including placing a vehicle barricade in front of the Law Enforcement Center that included street department trucks and squad cars.
