FARGO, N.D. -- Phyllis Engleson, 72, of Fargo, N.D., died Friday at her home.

The service is at 2 p.m. today at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fargo, N.D. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery in Willmar.

Visitation is one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to Roger Maris Cancer Center. The Boulger Funeral Home of Fargo, N.D., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 19, 1934 to George and Emily (Kelly) Welsh in Watertown, S.D. She graduated from Willmar High School and attended St. Cloud State to obtain her teaching certificate.

She married Russel Engleson on Aug. 24, 1954 in Willmar. After a year of teaching at Lake Owasso Elementary School in North St. Paul, they moved back to Willmar. In 1972 she completed her teaching degree. Two years later they moved to Minot, N.D. and in 1986 she and Rod relocated to Fargo.

She was active in the churches and communities in which they lived, including St. Mary's Catholic Church in Willmar, Our Lady of Grace in Minot and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo.

She is survived by her husband; children: Michael Engleson of Eureka, Calif., Roderic (and Peggy) Engleson of Minot, Timothy (and Charlotte) Engleson of Eureka, Mont., Jeffery (and Lori) Engleson, Bismarck, N.D., Mary Engleson (and Charles Fatoma) of Prague, Czech Republic, Emily (and Dale) Trautmann of Fargo, Paul (and Julie) Engleson of Inver Grove Heights; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her siblings, Patricia Lumsden of La Grande, Ore., Norbert (and Marilyn) Welsh of Coon Rapids, Dennis (and Sandie) Welsh of Mequon, Wis., Kathryn (and George) May of Mendota Heights.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
