BUFFALO LAKE -- Phyllis Elaine Moritz, 79, of Buffalo Lake died Wednesday at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. Burial will be at the Zion Evangelical Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

She was born August 2, 1928, to Henry and Anna Johnson of Fargo, N.D. In 1930, they moved to a farm near Becker where she grew up. She attended rural school in Kragero where she graduated from eighth grade in 1934. She worked in Minneapolis for several years.

She married Kenneth Moritz on Oct. 28, 1950, in Brooklyn Center. They lived in the Brooklyn Center area. They moved to a farm near Buffalo Lake where they lived for 57 years. They then moved into an apartment in Buffalo Lake.

They were members of the Evangelical United Brethren and Zion United Methodist Church where she was in Sunday school, Bible school and U.M.W. She was an adult 4-H leader of the Buffalo Lake Onwards for many years.

She is survived by her husband; son: Paul Moritz (and Jayleen Ryberg) of Redmond, Wash., two grandchildren; and a sister: Millie Werner of Buffalo Lake.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
