REDWOOD FALLS -- The Redwood County Sheriff's Office said Gary Debaun, 63, of Lakeville received minor injuries after the Pitts Special SPS 1 he was flying crashed Thursday morning on U.S. Highway 14 and Garden Avenue in Lamberton Township.
The sheriff's office said the plane experienced mechanical problems. Debaun was able to land the plane on Highway 14 but lost control soon after. After he lost control, the plane entered the ditch, struck several trees and rolled over.
DeBaun was alone in the plane and received only minor injuries. The plane was a total loss. The sheriff's office and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
