WILLMAR -- The 2010 Willmar-Spicer Polar Bear Plunge has raised more than $45,000 according to preliminary figures.
According to a news release from the Willmar Police Department and Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, there were 229 plungers on Saturday who braved the chilly waters of Green Lake in Spicer to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota.
The tentative figure for money raised is $45,786.
The top teams in donations were the Green Lake Dippers with nearly $4,500 and the Medical Mayhem team (Willmar Surgery Center) who raised a little more than $4,400.
Medical Mayhem also recorded the most jumpers with 20 registered plungers.

Ian Schmidt, a member of the Green Lake Dippers, led all individual donations with $2,395.
