PLYMOUTH, Minn. - A police officer shot and killed a person inside a suburban Twin Cities fast-food restaurant Thursday evening.

An officer from the Plymouth Police Department responded to a call of a disturbance at an Arby’s in Plymouth and, and after a scuffle, fatally shot the person, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said in a news release.

The officer and individual killed were not identified in the news release.

The 911 call of a disturbance at the Arby’s at 10205 6th Avenue North in Plymouth was made shortly after 8 p.m. Police identified the subject of the 911 call, and the officer tried to “gain control of the individual” and “at some point, the officer fired their weapon,” the release said.

No one else in the restaurant was injured during the incident.

The individual has been taken to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and formal identification. The officer sustained minor injuries in the scuffle that did not require treatment. The officer has been placed on standard administrative leave.

Interviews with the officer and witnesses are not yet complete Friday morning, the release said.

Once an investigation is complete, the BCA will turn its findings over to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for review.
