SPICER -- Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center invites the public to Winter Fun Day from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18 at the Environmental Learning Center near Spicer. All are welcome.
PWELC staff has put together a variety of winter activities for people of all ages. Trails and ponds will be open for cross country skiing and snowshoeing (snow conditions permitting). Two-hour rentals of cross country skis and snowshoes will be provided for $2. Tips and pointers will be available for beginning skiers.
Prairie Woods' indoor climbing wall, a perennial favorite, will be open from 1-4 p.m. Families can go on a Winter Quest treasure hunt around the PWELC property, and take part in living history activities. Local birding experts will lead a birding walk. Guided explanations of PWELC's wind turbine and corn-fired furnace will be available. After spending some time outdoors, gather around the corn stove in the Education Building for live music and snacks.
Admission to Prairie Woods' Winter Fun Day is free for all ages. Donations will be accepted.
