RAYMOND -- Chris Braaten gave up a hit to the first batter he faced then set down 21 of the next 22 as Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg whitewashed MACCRAY 5-0 in a key Camden North Conference baseball game on Monday.
Brandon Madsen doubled to right-center to lead off the lower half of the first for MACCRAY. With one out, he was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a grounder to shortstop Justin Johnson.
Only one Wolverines batter reached after that -- on an infield error. Braaten fanned seven.
Spencer Almen had an RBI single and Braaten a sacrifice fly in the Fighting Saints' three-run fourth inning.
Losing pitcher Ben Ruter went six innings and scattered eight hits, while striking out four.
