PAYNESVILLE -- Keegan Meagher knocked in Colin Spooner with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Paynesville past Melrose 8-7 Thursday in a West Central North Conference baseball game.
Spooner singled to led off the seventh and then moved to second after Melrose intentionally walked Shane Kampsen. Meagher followed with a hit to the gap in right-center.
Nathan Nietfeld tied the game at 7-7 with a two-run homer in the fourth and Brett Savelkoul led off the first with a solo home run for Paynesville (7-7, 9-7).

A squeeze bunt in the top of the eight with one out scored the Mainstreeters' Ethan Meyer with the tiebreaking run, then Meyer shut down the Wildcats in the bottom of the inning to finish with a five-hitter with 12 strikeouts.
Luke Reiter homered for New London-Spicer and Logan Stephan also had a solo shot for Sauk.
Reiter took the loss despite throwing a strong seven-plus innings.
NLS plays its fifth game this week today, hosting Melrose.
