Prep Baseball: Sutton, Waska top YME; Lakers in first place alone

GLENWOOD -- Minnewaska Lakers senior Nick Sutton pitched a four-hitter and also went 3-for-3 as Minnewaska topped Yellow Medicine East 8-1 on Thursday in a West Central South Conference baseball game.

Minnewaska (5-1, 5-2) moved into first place alone as ACGC lost 5-3 to Morris.

Sutton gave up an unearned run while hurling a complete game. He walked none and struck out six.

The Lakers amassed 13 hits off two YME pitchers. Danny Braaten and Wyatt Paumann each had two hits.

Losing pitcher Taylor Tollefson gave up nine hits and four runs, one earned, over five innings.

Dusty Sauter went the distance for the win, allowing six hits, striking out six and walking one.

The Thunder Hawks scored three unearned runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Eldon Evans, who went 4-for-5, doubled in two runs to cap the rally.
