GLENWOOD -- Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa withstood a late charge from Maple Lake to win the Section 5A-West softball title 6-5 Thursday.
The Jaguars (14-5) scored all six runs in the first four innings and held a 6-2 lead.
But Maple Lake put up single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to come within one run.
BBE put early pressure on Maple Lake by getting on base and running. Emily Roelike stole three bases and went 2-for-4. Amber Evenson also went 2-for-4 and had a double and two RBI. Sarah Gruber also drove in a run.
In the circle, Michelle Sanders doled out nine hits, but didn't walk a batter and struck out four.

The four-team section tournament will be held Tuesday at St. Cloud.
