MONTEVIDEO -- Montevideo spoiled Minnewaska's plan to clinch a West Central South Conference title Tuesday, thumping the Lakers 10-4 in softball action.
Minnewaska (11-3, 15-4) is now tied with Benson/Hancock (9-3, 11-4) in the loss column. B/H split a doubleheader with Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Tuesday.
The Thunder Hawks knocked Minnewaska starting pitcher Kali Cordes out of the game in the fourth inning after giving up a two-run home run to Montevideo's Carrie Johnson.
The Thunder Hawks also chased Minnewaska's Alicia Pfeninger out of the circle after the fourth-run fifth inning.
Karie Blommel went 4-for-4 and scored three runs. to lead the Thunder Hawks. Emily Blauert added three hits and Johnson scored a total of three runs and drove in three.

Shelby Monahan went the distance for the win. She allowed four runs on seven hits, struck out five and walked five.

Behind a single from Sarah Ahrndt and bunts from Courtney Frank, Mallory Jensen, Julia Ahrndt and Taylor Semler, Benson/Hancock plated four runs in the first inning to take control. Frank ignited the 15-hit attack by going 4-for-4 to drive in six runs.
Kayla Dallmann knocked in two runs with two hits for ACGC, which also got two hits from Kathy Lamecker and Bethany Nelson.

Benson/Hancock intentionally loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh after Kayla Dallmann doubled and moved to third on Mary Larson's sacrifice. Dallmann then scored for ACGC (7-6, 8-8) after Taylor Semler's first pitch to Jazmin Petersen got past the catcher.
Petersen held the slugging Benson/Hancock (9-3, 11-4) to just two hits over seven innings to earn the win.
Dallmann doubled twice and added a single to collect three of ACGC's four hits.
