WILLMAR -- In a close Central Lakes Conference battle, Willmar was nipped by Brainerd 4-3 in the final regular-season match.
Willmar hosts New Ulm in the Section 2AA-South playoffs at 4 pm. today. The winner will play at Hutchinson on Thursday.
Brainerd (10-1, 11-1), which won the CLC title, swept the doubles matches and also got a points at 4-singles.
Willmar (7-4, 9-4) got wins from Marco Vazquez at 1-singles, Matt Hallstrom at 2-singles and Jim Neis at 3-singles. Vazquez and Neis' matches went three sets.
