GROVE CITY - A race car driver was injured Saturday after losing control of his car and crashing at the Grove Creek Raceway in rural Grove City.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office identified him as Paul Larson, 64, of Dayton.

The Sheriff’s Office said Larson was driving a 1933 Ford Model 40 custom-built kit car on the racetrack when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with the barrier walls. His estimated speed was 80 to 90 miles an hour, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Larson was taken by Gold Cross Ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. The crash was investigated by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.
